What does this Committee do? (A) This Committee shall serve as the Shepherding Committee of Presbytery to counsel with Ministers and/or Churches to preclude conflicts; to help resolve disputes; to advance the spiritual welfare of the Churches under care of Presbytery; to insure that the Ministers of Presbytery are devoting themselves diligently to their sacred calling and to encourage Ruling Elders as they oversee the people of God under their care.
(B) Whenever a Church and/or a Minster seek the advice and counsel of the Committee they shall be scheduled on the Committee's docket.
(C) The Committee, either by its own members, or by a shepherding Pastor called for this purpose by the Presbytery, shall on a regular basis provide Pastoral care to the Ministers and Ruling Elders of Presbytery.
(D) The Committee, when advised by the Minister or Session of a Church under Presbytery's care of any issue that could result in disturbing the peace and unity of that Church, shall visit that Church for the purpose of inquiring into and redressing the evils that may have arisen in order to advance the spiritual welfare of that Church
(E) All requests by either one or both parties to dissolve that Pastoral relation shall be brought to Presbytery by this Committee. The Committee shall have power to dissolve the Pastoral relation when both parties are in agreement. It shall report its action to the next Stated Meeting of Presbytery.
(F) Ministers seeking to leave Presbytery to engage in the work of another Presbytery may receive permission to do so by the Committee. It shall report its action to the next Stated Meeting of Presbytery. The Committee shall not give permission to any Minister who may be subject to Judicial Discipline or require such Discipline.
(G) This Committee shall bring to Presbytery all matters pertaining to Ministers and/or Churches that require Judicial Discipline as specified in the Book of Church Order.
(H) Whenever the terms of a Minister's call are changed, the report shall ordinarily be made to Presbytery through this Committee.
(I) A Call from a church in this Presbytery to a Minister, who is on the Roll of Presbytery of Southern Florida, shall be processed by this Committee. The Terms, Conditions and financial arrangements of the Call shall be in the detailed format as shown in the PCA Manual For Calling A Pastor.
(J) All Ministers Without Call and all Ministers Laboring Outside the Bounds of Presbytery shall be under the oversight of this Committee, which shall be responsible for assuring that all the provisions in the Book of Church Order and/or the Standing Rules For Presbytery Operations are complied with. Stated Meeting Dates/Time/Place: The last Thursday of the month before Presbytery meets.
