What does this Committee do? (A) This Committee shall serve as the Examination Committee of the Presbytery to interview and examine prior to their appearance before Presbytery:
(1) Ministers seeking entrance into Presbytery (2) Candidates for ordination (3) Applicants for licensure
(B) No minister shall be received from another Presbytery or Denomination without a Call to a particular work (save in cases where the minister is already honorably retired) except by a three-fourths vote of the Credentials Committee and Presbytery.
(C) All Ministers and their Call to work within the Presbytery shall be reviewed by this Committee prior to appearing before Presbytery. The terms, conditions, and financial arrangements of the Call shall be in the detailed format as shown in the PCA Manual For Calling A Pastor. (D) A Call from a church in the Presbytery to a Minister on the Roll of Presbytery of Southern Florida shall be processed by the Minister & Church Relations Committee.
(E) The Committee shall consult with each Minister-Elect and the local Church, in nominating to Presbytery the Commission to Ordain and/or install the Minister whose call shall have been approved by Presbytery.
(F) Before a Church shall call a Minister, his name shall be submitted to the Committee for consideration. A particular Church may call a man and prosecute the call before the Presbytery, even if the Committee does not recommend him.
(G) The Committee shall recommend or shall not recommend that a Call be approved by the Presbytery, prior to the Minister or Candidate's examination by the Presbytery.
(H) All Candidates for ordination and Ministers seeking admission to Presbytery, are required to submit a paper stating their theological beliefs at least 30 days before Stated Meetings of Presbytery on the following subjects: The inspiration of Scripture, The Trinity, the Person and Work of Christ, His Death and Resurrection, The Doctrine of Man, The final State of Man, The Second Coming of Christ, The Doctrine of the Church, The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit, including the Candidate's view on the Charismatic Movement, The Doctrine of the Person and Work of Satan, The Five Points of Calvinism, Creation, Theonomy, The Roll of Women in the Church, Paedocommunion, The New Perspective on Paul, and The Federal Vision.
(I) Whenever a pulpit becomes vacant the Committee shall be notified of the names of the Pulpit Committee members elected by the Church so that the Committee may help the Church find a suitable new Pastor. It shall, if requested by the Session, appoint a Moderator.
(J) Ordinarily, Ministers and/or Candidates for ordination shall not be examined at Called Meetings of the Presbytery. Upon the unanimous vote of the Committee a Minister and/or Candidate for ordination shall be given permission to move on to the field prior to Presbytery's examination, and placing of the Call at its Stated Meeting. Ministers or Candidates for ordination not sustained by Presbytery shall vacate the field immediately.
(K) The Committee may, in the name of Presbytery, receive Candidates for the Gospel Ministry from Presbyteries within the Presbyterian Church in America or other Churches with whom we are in ecclesiastical fellowship. The Committee shall report its actions to the next Stated Meeting of Presbytery.
(L) For any Parts of Examinations not sustained by the Committee and/or on the floor of Presbytery (limited to one time) the individual must be re-examined on these Parts at the next Stated Meeting of the Committee and/or Presbytery. Unless providentially hindered, failure to do this will require the individual to go through the whole examination process from the beginning (both in Committee and on the floor of Presbytery). In such cases the Committee shall give serious consideration to the validity of the call to the office the individual is seeking.
